History and Experience
Joe caught the accounting bug from an “amazing professor” in his first accounting class at the University of Texas – San Antonio. But a dip in the oil market meant that Texas accounting firms weren’t hiring when he graduated in 1987, so he took a job at the IRS.
After transferring to the IRS office in Albuquerque, he was surprised at the poor representation that some taxpayers received from their local CPAs. In 1994, he left the IRS and has never looked back. He joined the firm that is now Ricci & Company. Joe receives great satisfaction from the peace of mind his insider knowledge can give clients when they have problems with the IRS.
Joe is the Managing Principal of Ricci & Company. When he’s not busy running the firm, he works with clients in the retail, car dealership and construction industries. His specialty is pro-active tax planning that helps his clients save taxes while making smart choices to grow their businesses and their wealth.
His proudest accomplishment was making partner at Ricci & Company. Almost equally satisfying to him is the help he’s able to give to clients and the relief in their voices when he tells them that their tax issue can be dealt with. As Joe said, “we’re not saving lives as accountants and we’re not making something that makes their lives better, but we are giving them peace of mind.”
